The Croatian Royal Council condemns the chauvinistic speech of Aleksandar Karađorđević

Croatian Royal Council reacted to Serbian Prince Alexandar's recent provocative and chauvinistic statements: "the state called the Kingdom of Serbia under the Obrenović and Karađorđević dynasties never extended west of the Drina river!"

In his congratulatory remarks on the occasion on of the so-called Statehood Day of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Entity Republic of Srpska, Serbian Crown Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević stated:

The Drina River never was, and it will never be a border because when there is love, respect, and unbreakable connections, a frontier can never exist. Therefore, I am sending my warmest and most sincere greetings to our sisters and brothers in the Republic of Srpska”

(Aleksandar Karađorđević, source: royalfamily.org)

Referencing the above statement issued on the 8th of January, the Croatian Royal Council responds with the following proclamation:

"Propagating territorial expansionism through pro “Greater Serbia” is truly shameful and irresponsible. Having the benefit of hindsight of living in the 21st century, after so much blood spilt and suffering caused by the Serbian aggression against Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, allowing such assertions would be quite intolerable. Much more was expected of an individual who grew up and had benefits of western education.

To remind the public, the Karađorđević dynasty, which Prince Alexander currently represents, occupied the Serbian throne after a reprehensible act of regicide, massacring of the Obrenović royal dyasty during the May Coup of 1903. Of note, neither Serbian dynasty ever ruled Croatian and Bosnian-Herzegovinian lands as Kings of Serbia. Furthermore, the Serbian state never expanded west of Drina. Nor could they have as, perhaps best explained by Croatian and Austro-Hungarian Field Marshal Svetozar baron Boroević de Bojna:

"I cannot be a subject of the king of Serbia; the word subject seems to embarrass their language, because the Karađorđević's are not older than the Boroević's”

The area of today's Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina is imbued with a thousand-year-old culture; the right of statehood; and the royal traditions of the Croatian crown, which have been maintained until today. The fact is that according to ancient Croatian laws and traditions, even in the case of fracture of the Pragmatic Sanction, which with the Annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908, covers that territory as well, no highly placed nobility of Serbian origin exists with any legal or titled rights towards Croatian throne. Namely, every Croatian noble family, even the most minor one, is still more noble than the Serbian royal house of Karađorđević. What little Serbian nobility does exist, does not even belong to the Serbian crown. The titles these Serbian families received were conferred by sovereigns of non-Serbian monarchies, primarily: Croatian, Hungarian, Austrian, Russian, etc.

Lands of Croatian crown are de jure still, as they have been for centuries, under the authority of the Habsburg-Lothringen dynasty. At the moment of the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes/Yugoslavia, the State of Slovens, Croats and Serbs, created on the lands of the K u K Monarchy, enters Yugoslavia in a complete and unique scope as a state-forming factor of that Kingdom, as it is clearly stated in the Address of December 1, 1918:

"...on the territory of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy, we staged a coup and temporarily constituted an independent state"

We highlight the fact that Alexanders father, grandfather and great-grandfather who have never been crowned nor held the title of Croatian, Bosnian (Rama), Dalmatian, nor Slavonian King, but exclusively the king of Yugoslavia., have no right over ancient lands of the Croatian crown. The right on the basis of which they deny the Drina river as border has never existed, the state called the Kingdom of Serbia under the Obrenović and Karađorđević dynasties never extended west of the Drina river! Furthermore, the very existence of Republika Srpska is the result of mercy extended by its honorable opponents, namely the Croatian Army and the Croatian Defense Council forces. These formations, by choosing not to enter Banja Luka during the operation “Southern Move” (1995), allowed its existence as an entity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This was done under the premise of preventing the humanitarian crisis and the exodus of the Serbian population. The same population that supported and participated in the armed aggression against Croatia and BiH."
